In this Pharmacy Technician (Float) role, you will assist patients with pharmacy services while working as part of a diverse care team. We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician (Float) who is well organized, has knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology, and has strong customer service and communication skills. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred for the Pharmacy Technician (Float) position.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Assist in providing pharmacy services to patients under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Assist in dispensing and filling of prescriptions (mixing suspensions, counting medication, pouring liquids, prepare labels, etc.) under the pharmacist’s direct supervision.
Check all prescriptions at drop off for completeness, verify patient information, and confirm patient’s date of birth is on the prescription.
Enter patient data if patient is new to the pharmacy, update changes in a patient’s demographic information in the electronic pharmacy system, and enter prescription information.
Assist with inventory control of medications and supplies through ordering, shelving, and date verification of supplies and medications.
Provide non-drug information to patients and answer simple inquires.
Operate cash register, preform transactions, and give patient proper receipts.
Clean pharmacy equipment, utensils, and work area.
Assist care team members in ordering medication for indigent drug program.
Attend and participate in required meetings, staff development, and educational activities.
Assist with other duties as instructed by supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED; Minimum 1 year pharmacy experience is preferred. Familiar with medical terminology.
Required License: Basic Life Support Certification (AHA certified)
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Pharmacy located inside a primary care clinic with frequent contact with staff and the public. Frequent exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common in a medical environment.
Reports to: Pharmacist in Charge or supervising Pharmacists; Manager for Pharmacy Support Services.
