To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability. Responsibilities include performing required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet lifecycle; performing FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment in accordance with all federal, state and local legal and regulatory agencies; performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment; addressing all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write ups timely and efficiently; diagnosing malfunctions and performing repairs to manufacturer specifications on engines, transmissions, clutches, drive-line, differential, steering, suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems; following procedures including documenting all work performed on work orders; learning and developing efficiency in Sysco computer programs; proficient in electrical meter testing; knowledge of controls and electric (DC low voltage); electric motor knowledge (DC); completing electrical repairs and welding projects as needed. Qualifications include medium/heavy duty truck technical training, high school diploma or GED, 2-year school and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair, current and valid driver's license, annual inspector certification, brake inspector certification, ASE certifications preferred, 609 HVAC certification, working knowledge of computer-based diagnostic software, must provide own tools except diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco, expert knowledge of vehicle systems and components, moderate knowledge in electrical systems diagnosis and repair, preventive maintenance inspections and repair, basic welding and cutting skills, basic computer skills, knowledge of DOT (FMCSA) regulations, OSHA safety regulations, environmental regulations, physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 100 lbs, and ability to work in various environmental conditions and non-traditional hours. The associate may occasionally travel to other operating companies or corporate office as needed.
